dating for 4 years, Not alot of money, Very picky boyfriend….?

I have been searching this forum and there are tons of teenagers with b/f gift issues, nothing compared to what im faced with.

My b/f and I am 24, and just moved to another state. He is VERY picky. I try my best with gifts but they are usually a miss. I am creative and have made him things (cupons and such); he collects hotwheels and has over 5,000 of them, so i dont know what he needs; hes not into pictures, and is VERY unsentimental. scrapbooks and framed pictures are out of the question.

Some of the things he wants are very expensive: game systems, Mp3 players, sound system for his truck, things i have NO $$$ for. I wanted to make him something special but i cant think of anything usefull or anything that would mean something to him.

Last year i bought him a silver "dog tag" from our favorite radio station. he liked that, that was probably the best i have done.

Im out of ideas and could use some help. Please dont tell me to sleep with him. we do that enough.

Ahh.. one of my biggest problems! What to get the man who has everything he can afford, but wants everything he cant! haha This is just a shot in the dark for me, but I looked on ebay for you to see some hot wheels things he might like? Aside from that, I have no idea. I bought my husband an expensive part for his motorcycle this year, and long story short, it’s the wrong one! If it were the right one he’da loved it though… ;)

What evidence do you have for the existence of ANYTHING supernatural?

I asked this question in the religion and spirituality forum, but I also thought that I’d ask it here.

Do you have any evidence for god? For angels or demons? The soul? The afterlife? Ghosts? Magic? Psychic powers? Anything supernatural? Without quoting religious books like the Bible, Torah, Qu’ran, etc., tell me ANY tiny piece of evidence for the existence of ANYTHING supernatural.

We live in a scientific and progressive age. You folks really need to start keeping a scrapbook of anything that you feel is evidence for anything supernatural. I won’t be combative here. Atheism is beneficial to social progress, but I won’t get ideological here. If there is even a single piece of solid evidence for something (anything) supernatural, then I’d be willing to reconsider my atheism.

Be an atheist, who really cares?

Personal Statement. (UCAS Application)?

It’s come to that time of year and now it’s my turn to apply to university. I have written my personal statement and I was just wondering if it was ok as writing is not a strong point of mine. At University I intend to study Graphic Design, the grades related to the course I intend to study at university are the following: GCSE Art – C. A Level – Photography A, As – Graphic Design B, Media Studies C. I’m currently taking A2 Media Studies and Graphic Design. My predicted grade in Media is C and Graphic Design A. (I also have a grade C for As Film Studies).

Okay so here is the drafted Personal Statement…

To me Graphic Design is not just a subject I am studying for an A level it is a genuine interest of mine which I think stems from my childhood. I did not realise at that moment in time, but looking back it’s clear to me that Graphic Design is more that just a subject. As a child I was always making “things” and being creative, whether that’s drawing or making paper models. My Granddad was a big inspiration to me; he not only taught me history, he taught that it was important to be creative. During my fist year at Franklin College I started studying Photography, by learning how to use the traditional methods of Photography it meant a lot to me as I felt those methods had been forgotten over time. I never really got a chance to know my Granddad as I wanted to and by using developing my images in the dark room was my way of getting to know him since he spent so much time on this particular hobby. Photography is another passion of mine as well as arts and crafts; I feel that it ties in with Graphic Design well as Photography shapes many advertisements. I feel I am traditionalist when it comes to Photography, I feel there are never too many images of striking flowers and picturesque sunsets. I myself have entered competitions and indeed have one of my photographs printed in the local telegraph. Another interest of mine is reading, I have taken part in three “reading carnivals” as a child which one year I won. As a person I feel I am dedicated, punctual and responsible, during my last year at school I was picked as a Mentor to help and advice fellow students. I also am a staff moderator of an online Forum; I take part in advising members and generally giving people someone to talk to. I have supported the sites design also by helping out with some graphic elements on the site. I would like to hopefully peruse a career in Graphic design as it is an element which I am very much interested in, I feel that to actually have a career in something I am interested in is an important aspect of success. My father says that to do well in something it helps if you generally have an interest in it. I feel that going to Lincoln University would help me to achieve my future goal; it has a good reputation and is close to home which is important to me. I feel that my interests in different cultures and places helped me to be more open minded and be interested in various arts, one of which is the Japanese art of Paper Folding (Origami), I also like to organise my own scrapbook which I feel help with layout and Typography ideas within Graphic Design. I want to pursue a Degree in Graphic design as I like the idea of being able to crate anything in mind and having very little boundaries, I also feel that being able to create work for other people is important almost like an Architect designing a building, it’s iconic and open to the public’s view similarly to a Graphics Designer creating advertisements for people to view.

I don’t really know what is supposed to be included within it but I have made it personal and have spoken about the intended subject I intent to study.

Please let me know what you think, Thank you in advance! :)

ok I tried to edit but there is just way too much..i’ll do it if you really want but i would consider just starting over and try to make an outline before hand because you really jumped all over the place in this. It also has a lot of spelling and gramatical errors. It doesn’t sound well written.

Online scrapbooks?

I tried asking this in the hobbie forum and got no answers. I figure someone here might have experience!

I have just started to look into some of the online services that do scrapbooking. I don’t have the time to scrapbook myself, not to mention the expense of supplies. However I do have time for this as it is very quick. These are services where you upload your pictures, then pick out backgrounds, layouts, corners, captions, and other accessories to make a book. I have looked at Picabo and shutterfly, but does anyone else have experience with these services? How do the books come out? What are some of the better sites for this?

I’m a scrapper and graphic designer, and I have seen some books from shutterfly. They come out really nice, the printing is good. I have also tried to make one, but it’s very time consuming online, in fact, I worked on it for about an hour, and it got hung up and I lost everything that I did.

Why are there some Canadians and Americans who hate and speak badly of Canada?

Hello people!

Good morning!

I’m not Canadian, but I’m Brazilian. I visited Yahoo Answers Canada and on the questions and the answers I saw some Canadians and Americans who hated, spoke badly of Canada and criticized a lot the Olympic Games. Why did they hate, speak badly and criticize? What are these problems?

As for Brazil, if you ask me if Brazilian people are patriot. No, unfortunately, because I visited the Yahoo Answers Brazil, Orkut communities, forums, comments book or forum , type scrapbook or guestbook, of each news, many and many Brazilians didn’t stop speaking badly of Brazilian, of Brazilians and of Brazilian regions (for example, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Northern Brazil), promoting discriminations and prejudices. I got very shocked with this reality. I also saw them speaking, without stopping, swearwords, I mean, dirty words against Brazil, Brazilians, people of each region and until people of each religion. Then, they’re very unpatriot.

Unfortunately, when I visited Orkut coommunities, I got very shocked to see that there’s some Brazilian xenophobical communities, as Brazilians also hate and speak badly of Americans, Arabs, Argentinians, Bolivians, British, Canadians, Chinese, French, Germans, Greek, Italians, Mexicans, Paraguayans, Portuguese, Russians, Spaniard, etc.

During the Germany 2006 World Cup, at Orkut communities of each country, Brazilian fanatic and impolite "cheerleaders" attacked with violence and spoke swearword against Australians, Croatians and French.
A long time I’ve denonced the xenophobical communities against French, Italians and Mexicans at orkut and they’ve been removed.

Morning,
I know what you mean I don’t understand a lot of people and there hatred, a find a lot of times it is friendly competition but a lot of times it is taken to far. Personally I find that American make fun of Canadiansns a lot, about everything if you read a lot of what they put on the yahoo questions it’s really rude things they say, I don’t understand why they do it but I guess it makes them feel superior. After a while when you get constant questions like "why don’t canadians move to america", "why would you live there", "do you live in igloo’s", "do you have airplanes", "eh, aboot, ect.." (which is a huge stereotype) and other rude things Canadians can only put up with these things for so long. I don’t think Canadians hate American’s but after a lot of disrespect and can get kind of testy.
Most people around here are the treat how you want to be treated and judge by the character of the person not by the country there from.
I don’t know but I certainly love Canada and could never speak bad about my own country.

How can I use a proxy server/Privoxy to change certain links on a website into regular, unclickable text?

I’m trying to use Privoxy make a backup of a website forum that is giving me quite a few problems (with cookies and authentication and such), so the only thing that works is logging in and using the scrapbook extension. however, scrapbook is pretty stupid, and there are a number of links on each page that I want to filter out.

eg example.com/memberprofile.php?m=XXXXX

I don’t want every member’s profile, just the threads and forum lists, which are
forumdisplay.php?f=XXXXX and
showthread.php?t=XXXX

the member’s names for each post are clickable, I want to make them (and some other stuff) unclickable. Displayed, but unclickable. I can’t seem to wrap my head around the syntax for privoxy, but could you show me/do you have other ideas?
this didn’t work

What is scrapbooking exactly?

I have seen a lot on the parenting forums about scrapbooking and i’d like to start one for myself with my kids but i’m a bit stumped about what people actually put in a scrapbook. Any thoughts ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Well, it is very important to really think about the important things that you want in your scrapbook. I have done several for my children. On the first page, I put a 5 x 7 photo or 8 x 10 photo with something like, "My Precious Gary." On the other pages, next to their photos, I journal my love for them, as their mother. In my own handwriting. My own mother has passed away and I love anything with her handwriting….especially if it is about me.

I put the BEST photos in it…not every one. When I journal, I journal "to" them. For example, instead of "Easter, 2007," I put, "Gary, look how handsome you look in your Easter outfit." I do all my journalling "to" them…it makes it so endearing and love-filled.

I suggest that you do not get all hung up on the stickers/papers, etc. Keep it simple and know that future generations are most interested in the "story." The "history" of your child’s life. That is why we do it, I believe.

It is important that you get the correct album, as so many use coupons and buy the Post bound type. The pages are held in with 1/8 inch of flimsy plastic, and I have seen so many that have ripped very quickly. The Creative Memories album is "Flex Hinged" binding, and has a lifetime guarantee. It is a big difference. When you do all that work for your children, you want to make sure it lasts.

If I can help you in any way, do contact me via my website. In addition, there is a "project center" there with tons and tons of ideas. I would be happy to help you get started. With every sincere good wish, Mary

How to put on a Scrapbook Seminar?

We need to put together a small scrap-book seminar for about 15-20 people. Any creative ideas on what to do during the forum? I’ll take anything, really.

Please help!!

My sister goes to a seminar every month. The lady who does them puts together a sample project to show them what they will be doing (paper, stamps, cutouts, photos, ribbons, embellishments, etc.). She then hands out packets that each contain all these items to be put together anyway you choose to go them. She doesn’t charge for the workshop, but she expects people to buy from her. Which is totally easy to do. She works w/ Close to my Heart. My sister likes their stuff so she went on-line & asked for a rep to contact her. The lady went to her house w/ all sorts of goodies & booklets so she could see what is offered by them & invited her to her workshops. You can get them to so the same for you if you are interested.
Good luck!
